You’re Already Lashing. Now Make It Official.

If you’ve been doing lash extensions in Maryland, you already know the rules changed. The state now requires the Limited Eyelash Extension Technician License to keep providing the services you’re already offering. The good news: you don’t need a full esthetician license, and you don’t need to start over. You need a board approved program that gets you ready to pass the state board exam, and that’s exactly what we built.

Why Choose a Board-Approved Maryland Lash Program

We’ve been close to this license since the very beginning. Our director, Courtney Hare, has been engaged with the Maryland Board of Cosmetologists as this license took shape, and our team has been monitoring the development of the state board exam. So the program you take with us is built around preparing you for licensure.

We’re a Maryland state-approved school, and your instructor is an experienced lash artist who works in the field. You’ll learn the techniques, the regulations, and the exam material from someone who lashes for a living and knows where the bar is set.

What the Limited Eyelash Extension Technician License Covers

The Limited Eyelash Extension Technician License covers eyelash extension services specifically, without the hours or cost of a full esthetician or cosmetology license. It’s the most direct, affordable path to doing your work legally in Maryland.

About the Maryland State Board Lash Exam

Every PRO+ Skin Academy graduate is eligible to sit for the two-part Maryland State Board exam to become licensed: a written theory and a hands-on practical. Because we’ve been tracking the laws and regulations, we built this program around what you’ll be tested on. You walk in prepared, not guessing. And your student kit is kind of a big deal: it includes the essential supplies you need to complete the program and the hands-on practical portion of the state board exam.

Maryland Eyelash Extension License FAQs

Do I need a license to do eyelash extensions in Maryland?

Yes. Maryland now requires a Limited Eyelash Extension Technician License to provide lash extension services. Previously, the state required a full esthetician or cosmetology license, and the new limited license is a narrower, more affordable path.

What license do I need for lashes in Maryland?

To perform eyelash extension services in Maryland, you must hold one of three licenses: a cosmetologist license, an esthetician license,
or the Limited Eyelash Extension Technician License. The limited license is the most direct and affordable of the three, since it covers lash extension services specifically and is issued through the Maryland Board of Cosmetologists.

How do I become a licensed lash technician in Maryland?

You complete a board-approved eyelash extension training program and pass the two-part Maryland State Board exam, written theory and practical. You also need to be at least 17 years old.

When does Maryland require a lash license?

A temporary license is currently available and valid for one calendar year, which lets you keep working in a Board-permitted salon. When it expires, you must be fully licensed or actively enrolled in a board-approved program, so enrolling now keeps you compliant.

I already know how to lash. Do I still need this?

If you’re providing lash extension services in Maryland, yes. The state requires the license, and earning it means passing the two-part state board exam. Our program gets you exam-ready around your existing schedule, so you can keep working while you get compliant.

Do I need a full esthetician license to do lashes in Maryland?

No. The Limited Eyelash Extension Technician License covers eyelash extension services on its own, without the hours and cost of a full esthetician or cosmetology license.

How long does it take to get a lash license in Maryland?

Our program runs 6 weeks in a hybrid format, 109 hours total, combining live virtual classes and self-paced coursework with in-person clinical practice at our Hunt Valley facility.

Do I need prior experience to enroll?
